These awards were created several years ago to honor the talented individuals, companies and organizations who are helping Birmingham’s health care industry become one of the nation’s leaders. And her latest digital publishing entity, Walsh Media, LLC is a partner of and a consultant for this website. More websites in the planning phase as Jan plans to expand her portfolio of niche, local websites both in Birmingham and beyond.

Given the success of these niche, local websites, Jan Walsh, LLC has begun a new business, Walsh Websites, in which Jan consults with businesses for their web design or redesign and runs the project from start to finish. "People hate to deal with web companies and sometimes get taken advantage of due to their lack of knowledge regarding website development," Jan explains. "Techies have their own language, which most business people don't understand or have time for a translation. So the tech talk stops here at Walsh Websites. My team and I work with businesses to understand their needs and communicate best options in plain, simple English." Perhaps this business is bringing Jan's career full circle. Jan began as an English educator and now uses that strength to synthesize the real world needs of a whole new world—the Internet—to businesses.

And Jan still makes time to write her monthly columns for Birmingham magazine, B-Metro magazine and articles for Wine Spectator and other national publications.
